Beatus of Gerona. This reproduction
of the most beautiful manuscript of Visigothic art has two volumes.
The first one, 284 sheets of 28 x 43 cm, bound in leather, with a
facsimile reproduction of the codex "Comentarios al Apocalipsis de San
Juan" (comments on the Apocalypse of Saint John) of Beatus of Liébana
which is kept at Gerona's Cathedral, dated of 975, contains 131
miniatures with over 1,200 motifs of Visigothic-Preromanic art. The
second volume, 18,5 x 25 cm, bound in cloth with leathered spine, with
the transcription of the complete Latin text published by Henry A.
Sanders in 1929, a description of the characteristics and history of
the manuscript by Jaime Marqués de Casanovas, an historic critic study
on the art of its miniatures by professor José Camón Aznar, and a
paleographic study by professor Tomás Marín Martínez.
